Process Operators at our Lafayette South plant are responsible for the safe operations, basic maintenance, and troubleshooting of a highly automated, state of the art system that produces distinctive, high quality ingredients and solutions to the food, beverage, and other industries.Protecting our people and the environment is foundational to our businessEach team member is expected to support the Tate & Lyle culture where Environment, Health and Safety are the overriding values in all activities. Included in this is abidance with our Life Saving Principles (LSPs) and our STOP WORK AUTHORITY which are developed to strengthen our workplace safety, prevent serious injury or loss of life.All employees are responsible for:* Carrying out responsibilities/duties according to food safety, legal and quality requirements so as to ensure that our products are fit for human consumption.* Compliance with procedures that implement the requirements of the EHS policies and procedures* Being responsible for their own actions* Carrying out their work in a manner which does not present a risk to themselves, others and the environment* Comply with all environmental standards, procedures and work instructions at all times.* Report any environmental violations or near misses in order to prevent any impact upon the local environment, its inhabitants and Tate & Lyle.* Reporting all incidents, defects, hazards and inadequacies of procedures so that appropriate review and corrective action can be taken* Suggesting improvements and being active in the general improvement of all systems and methods of work to ensure EHS Support's activities and services are carried out in a safe, environmentally responsible, reliable and cost effective manner* Fully participate in the safety program, including reporting any incidents or near misses and auditing.Main accountabilities* Performing all job functions/activities with a strong safety commitment and compliance with all outlined safety policies and procedures* Meeting and exceeding clear housekeeping/GMP standards and food safety protocols* Accountable in the decision making for the operation and maintenance of corn wet milling and sweetener refinery equipment and processes* Monitoring and controlling process parameters and equipment utilizing HMI/PLC control systems* Field inspections of process equipment within areas of responsibility* Laboratory testing for key in-process and product specifications* Finished product packaging* Other duties as assignedPhysical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Successful candidates must pass a pre-employment physical and drug test.While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands and fingers, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; work from heights, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and occasionally lift and or move up to 55 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability see color and adjust focus.Work EnvironmentWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions on site. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. The position regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust. In addition this job also operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.Skills and experience requiredA high school diploma or GED is required with additional secondary education or trade training preferred. Previous technical manufacturing process work experience is a plus. The position requires working in a 24hr per day/7 days per week/365 day per year operation that requires the individual to work a 12 hour rotating shift, three days on / three days off with a fast rotation from days to nights.
