As an Environmental, Health, & Safety (EHS) Manager you will be
responsible for providing leadership, mentoring and direction to
hourly, salaried, and management personnel to insure employee
health and the environment are protected. You will conduct and
supervise activities that ensure compliance with governmental
regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT) and corporate policies. This position
typically manages Environmental, Health and/or Safety (EHS)
activities at a 300-400 employee facility. Individual will be
responsible for supervising two (2) or more EHS staff and support
personnel.
Responsibilities:
Coach and facilitate the development of the work group to develop
collaborative relationships among themselves, suppliers, other
cross functional groups and internal customers to insure goals are
achieved
Assist operations management in understanding related EHS
requirements and their impact on operations
Evaluate the impact of impending regulations and communicates these
issues to appropriate facility personnel
Utilize and modify the corporations "Best Management Practice"
programs and plan to fit the needs of the facility
Identifies common safety/health/environmental hazards inherent in
the organization's operations, and work with EHS Manager or
corporate EHS to establish guidelines for protection from those
hazards
Prepares or reviews EHS training materials for the facility
Investigates and establishes standards for protective equipment
Performs self-assessments of safety/health/environmental programs
for compliance with company standards, government regulations, and
adequacy relative to local conditions
Generating and/or reviewing of reports for environmental (EPA) and
safety (OSHA) agencies
Other duties as assigned by Caterpillar management from
time-to-time
Basic Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in a technical field; or 8-10 years of previous
EHS experience
3 (plus) years of EHS experience within Warehouse Operations, Parts
Distribution, Logistics, and/or Manufacturing Operations
The ability to travel domestically up to 20% of the time
Top Candidates will also have:
Master's degree in a technical field
Ability to influence and motivate others
Understanding of EHS regulations
Job-related safety certifications
Prior supervisory experience
Excellent human relations and communications skills
Analytical skills
Technical leadership skills
Ability to work under pressure
Ability to support a 3-shift operations
Ability to work well in a team environment and independently
Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities
