Job Description:

JOB PURPOSE: The Assistant Plant Manager will back up the Plant Manager who oversees all daily operations of the plant from production and manufacturing to ensuring policies and procedures are followed while taking the lead to develop processes that will maximize stewardship, safety, quality, and productivity. ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: Provides coaching, leadership, training, guidance, and resources necessary to accomplish established individual, department, and company objectives. Collaborate with team members (Corporate Staff and Operations Leaders on the determination of materials, space, equipment, and staffing needs. Take action to Implement continuous plant improvements for increased productivity and scrap reduction. Review, monitor and submit reports to identify areas of success and areas of opportunity to control production efficiency. Manages the safety and health factors in all processes and takes action to ensure changes are made where necessary. Promotes a strong safety and compliance culture correcting unsafe acts or conditions without delay. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from all levels of the organization. Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. Schedule and supervise plant operations to meet production requirements in a timely and cost-effective manner. Other duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in a related field or 5 years of operations management experience in a manufacturing setting. Must have a financial aptitude, analytical skills, proven leadership effectiveness Experience in metals/mining industry or similar heavy industrial work environment Familiar with Lean concepts is a plus Strong interpersonal skills-oral and written communication skills are essential. Strong analytic skills a must with experience using excel, word, and PowerPoint.
