Position Overview:
Responsible for designing, programming and troubleshooting control
systems for industrial equipment and other automation projects
particularly PLCs, HMIs and servo systems. This position will
create electrical schematics, panel layouts, and bills of materials
for machine control systems. This position will provide direction
to Skilled Electrical Trades Personnel on 3 shifts. Will provide
electrical/controls leadership and technical troubleshooting skills
for critical manufacturing equipment
Essential Duties:
- Plan, develop, implement, and support Automated Manufacturing
Systems to optimize a cost-effective manufacturing processes and
methods in accordance with product specifications and quality
standards. Recommend and implement improvements to production
processes, methods and controls. Plan and coordinate manufacturing
launches for new or revised product lines, equipment and support
the APQP process.
- Lead improvement projects regarding Automated Systems
identifying and resolving problems. Responsible for setting
automated operating parameters and establish guidelines for the
integration of PLCs, HMI's, etc. Assist in solving operational
problems and identify areas for improvement; document
history/metrics of improvements.
- Responsible for the design and implementation of control
systems including, but not limited to programming, the creation of
electrical schematics, data acquisition, and testing.
- Examine/plan/implement new technologies and systems and lead in
the integration of those technologies and systems. (e.g., robotic
systems, PLCs, Visual recognition, automated conveyance, automated
product loading).
- Write and establish work instructions and coordinate the
training of employees specific to their interaction with our
automated systems and assets. Oversee and track recurring/refresher
training as needed/scheduled.
- Additional Manufacturing Engineering responsibilities as
necessary to support operations.
- Responsible for "hands-on development of distributed Industrial
Control and Data Acquisition Systems including Ethernet,
Networking, PLC, and Analog to Digital Conversion.
Knowledge & Skills Summary:
- Expert level knowledge of control systems including PLCs,
robots, visions systems, sensors, and electrical schematic
design.
- Experienced in Lean manufacturing concepts and methods to
continuously improve the manufacturing process.
- Experience in hydraulics, pneumatics, servo and mechanical
equipment.
- Proficiency in Software, Cad or equivalent required.
- Familiarity with fixture and gage design.
- Ability to read blueprints.
- Ability to understand an apply Geometric Tolerances.
- Strong organizational skills
- Attention to detail is a must
- Must be willing to learn latest technologies and act as mentor
to other associates.
- A take-charge team player with the ability to foster enthusiasm
within the organization.
- Experience in project management, parts procurement, or quality
control is a plus
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical or comparable
engineering discipline from a four-year college or university; or
five to seven years directly related Electrical Engineering
experience in manufacturing.
- Computer literate. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word,
Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, and in the use of AutoCAD or
equivalent software.
- Possess a working knowledge of control system programming and
logic. Demonstrates project management skills relative to major
facility projects in a manufacturing environment
